The great pandemic (and subsequent lockdown) of 2020 sent musicians into a spiral of negative circumstances. In a world where musicians had already had more than 50% of their revenue slashed due to the changing recorded music industry - the LIVE music industry remained a last survival strategy for some of the world’s greatest musicians…and in one weekend in March of 2020, this all but disappeared.
Graham Alexander & Co. (The Victor Co. Players) spent about 5 years in residency at The Victor Vault (Victor Bldg. 19) performing to audiences that came from far and wide to experience shows and performances from Graham and the fabled studio collective.
An endearing, entertaining, raw, and energy packed live album from Graham Alexander & Co. isn’t what was planned for 2020 - but it is what unfolded organically - and we think you’ll enjoy adding it to your streaming collection.
FROM GRAHAM:
I've never been wild about live recordings - and I guess that is just a matter of being very much into the 'art' of the recording studio all my life... so much so that i've often failed to see the 'art' of the live performance.
We've been archiving recordings of shows we've done for 5 years at Victor Bldg. 19 (The Victor Vault...an intimate room of only 100 or so listeners on any given night) Thus, we have thousands of recordings. Some of it is original music and some of it is music we love that inspired that original music. Since we've had almost a year since the shutdown of live music, 'the Co.' and I agreed that there wasn't a better time to release a live compilation album to 'Digital Streaming' services...so let's consider this volume 1...
PS: I was wrong about live recordings - there IS magic there...
